The service is second to none - quietly efficient and friendly with it. I had a fabulous massage there too. We were in the presidential suite which was stunning but the whole place was lovely. Our only regret was that we had only booked one night, I would definitely stay for 2 if I came again.

Fantastic experience at Morgan Bay, so good we returned to M Bay, a week later, the day before we flew out from East London. As a bonus we got upgraded (Thanks you Nicola! at Reception) to a sea facing room next to the swimming pool. I think we were one of the few that used it that particular day, A tad windy just like home in Ireland. The facilities & room etc. were excellent & the staff couldn't have been friendlier. The Ernie Els red was sublime. Great experience also at the Spa, great way to while away an hour & feeling so refreshed after the pedicure & massage. Very nice touch having the Breakfast menu personalised with the guests names & a little info. on their stay etc. 10/10 for that. Next the food, breakfast was lovely with the freshly, a great array of food & the fried eggs done as we waited, a nice touch. Lovely slices of Cake to finish off. Enjoyed our snack at 6 in the bar before we headed in for a delicious seafood banquet with an array of fish & shellfish that was tricky to finish, but finish it we did, all washed down by the recommended white on the night by the attentive staff. Well worth the detour off the highway to this gem of a spot & all within an hour of East London. Do not miss the opportunity.

The drive through the Eastern Cape is unbelievable for scenery, but one must be careful of goats, dogs, cows and sheep, both dead and alive on the roads!!! Eastern Cape Town itself has a lot of churches for a tiny city that it is, but some really beautiful ones too, The Catholic Cathedral was excellent for photos.

This was our second stay at the Happy Jackal. The name is just so appropriate as we have always been happy there. Its quite impossible not to be happy in the company of the most charming hosts, Peter and Liz who have not changed one bit since our first visit in September 2012. We must admit that we are guilty of spending every opportunity inside Addo as we just cannot get enough of the wild life. We should probably have spent more time exploring the dunes and the other attractions and I guess its a good enough reason for another visit as soon as that is possible. We did have dinner at the Elephant Footprint and it was an equally enjoyable experience as everything on the menu was so well prepared and tasty. Sometimes Cape Town just seems too far from the Eastern Cape as we love it so much. Till next time......... Noel & Delia Furlong

Friendly but (temporarily?) dirty city
We only overnighted in East London on our way further inland, but the streets were badly littered when we arrived, creating a poor first impression. When we returned to the airport the next day, some of the mess had been cleaned up. It may have been the result of some sort of protest action. The airport was a bit disappointing as one of the two restaurants was closed for refurbishing and we had to eat our long-anticipated late breakfast on our laps at the other restaurant as there was not sufficient seating. Nevertheless, people were very friendly and we still left with good memories of the Eastern Cape in general.

Everything was lovely - airport, car hire, beaches, restaurants and a good staging post for going to other spots in the Eastern Cape - especially game and hunting. It is known as the friendly city and I found it so, apart from one mini bus taxii driver not heeding elderly people crossing on a pedestrian way (the light was red for the pedestrians but it was not working!).

Eastern Capes best kept secret! Value for money.. You can't beat it. The buffet dinner and breakfast is exceptional. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff very obliging. Wonderful experience soon to be repeated!

Absolutely everything! It started so great with a warm Welcome at the Reception with Michaela to the Welcome at the Lodge with Stacey. We had a Drink and a superdelisheos Lunch (great Chef!). The room was awesome, all the staff great and our Ranger Courtney and Tracker Vuyani a great Team with huge Knowledge. No question Courtney cound't answer. The game drives were great fun and we were so lucky that in one game drive we saw all of the Big 5. The self catering chalets are in a beautiful location. Each room of ours had a view of the sea. They are well kept. The resort is kind enough to give you a supply of drinking water.
