This hotel is the right size to be personal with a boutique vibe and yet provide services belonging to larger hotels. We have stayed twice recently and were upgraded at check in on return. This was a really nice touch.
The Penthouse restaurant has a great happy hour and was humming the night we were there.

Hotel Manager, Beti, was an absolutely fantastic host and a complete life saver on several occasions during my short stay. She was able to provide me early check-in with an incredible view of the Hollywood sign. And upon leaving I had forgotten an item and Beti was able to quickly locate and ship it back to me without any hassle. The room was clean and despite being on the road side was very quiet. Great hotel bar with a great happy hour. One of the best hotel stays I’ve had in recent memory, would absolutely stay again.

Exploring Los Angeles, the place where movies are made, you feel like you’re in a dream. Santa Monica Pier is the end point of the fabled Route 66, while just south is bohemian Venice Beach, lined by tall, swaying palms. Go slightly inland from the boardwalk to catch a glimpse of the canals that earned the area its name.
Head north to the golden beach and stunning scenery of Malibu and see why movie stars over the decades have settled here. Also popular with the rich and famous are Bel Air and Beverly Hills, home to exclusive Rodeo Drive.
And the reason for all this glitz and glamour? Hollywood, of course! Sitting high on a hill, the iconic sign is visible for miles around, while below the gold stars on Hollywood Boulevard immortalize celebrities of past and present. Be there on premiere night to see them grace the red carpet of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.
Over the hill is Universal Studios, with behind-the-scenes tours as well as rides. Next door are the Warner Brothers Studios, and Paramount Studios are closer to Downtown LA.
Whether you decide to live like a star in a luxury LA hotel or choose a cheap motel through Booking.com, it’s worth renting a car to get around this sprawling city and out to Los Angeles Airport (LAX).
Honestly, I don't like LA a lot. I prefer Santa Barbara, San Francisco or Monterey in terms of city. LA is a very expensive city because all the touristic points are kinda far from each other and your options to move in the city are subway, uber or rent a car.
The issue is that in the subway you'll find a lot of users under the influence and, for first time travelers, it must be a shock. But it's the easiest way to move around.
The ubers are very expensive and renting a car will increase your chances to get in a lot of traffic jam.
There are some nice places such as the Farmer Market, observatory, Santa Monica and the Parks (universal and Disneyland). And of course the walk of fame but I found very tacky and ugly. The food is also good, you can find very nice restaurants and coffee. Bottega Louie was my favorite as well as the food in Farmers Market.
So my advice is to stay in a strategic place where you can avoid traffic jam and visit the places around. And plan a short stay and visit other places such as Santa Barbara, San Francisco and San Diego.

Great places to visit - hike to Hollywood sign, helicopter ride over the city, Laguna Beach, Venice beach, Santa Monica Pier.
Not so great - expensive! Busy during rush hours, big city to get around so need a car. Difficult to find healthy food options as few and far between. Prepare to queue!

Dodgers game was an addition to our trip and we truly enjoyed it. We found people in the city to be friendly and helpful. Favorite areas to stay were Beverly Hills and Hollywood. And downtown stay at the CitizenM was perfect to catch the game.

Went there is visit family and watch Dodgers games.
Went there is visit family and watch Dodgers games. They were very accommodating as they won every game we saw (who could ask for anything more). We also went to several comedy clubs. What a great deal that is. . no fee just a request order two things (drink or food). Check out Flappers in Burbank. Note: they will charge for famous people like Jay Leno.
I stayed 2 nights at Metro Plaza Hotel and enjoyed my stay. The hotel is in a great location, just a few minute walk from Union Station which gets you to the Metro and FlyAway Bus to airport. I was able to walk to all the downtown museums and concert venue. The staff was extremely helpful, and flexible on check-out times. I appreciated that there were several people at the reception desk at all times, which made it feel safe. My room was quiet and the bed comfy. It is a great value in the center of LA, would recommend.
Close to museums and downtown area. Clean rooms. Lots of places to eat around the hotel. A beautiful vegan restaurant across the street with smoothies and great breakfasts that are healthy. (not a vegan but liked it). A specialty sausage restaurant, noodle bar. Good room with a couch and a fridge. Hanging space. Moe on reception was great. Great little hotel with exposed brick walls and red highlights. Secure door. Cool street art around the surrounding streets. Parking nearby was cheap. Would stay again.
Hotel and room were very clean, bed and pillows very comfortable. It's close enough to downtown L.A. without paying L.A. prices. We attended a concert near the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and it was about a 20-25 minute Uber/Lyft ride to and from the concert. All the staff was excellent, from the front desk to the wait/bar staff to the morning breakfast buffet. Great job! Scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, toast or bagel, some fresh fruit, coffee, O.J. or apple juice, very satisfying to start your day.
You could drive past this California bungalow fronted building without thinking there was a lovely little boutique hotel that extends out the back and up for 4 floors.
The proprietor and the front desk were lovely and accommodating people.
A simple but excellent continental breakfast with some of the best croissants I've ever had on the west coast of the USA.
Finally through the rooftop area with seating and drinks for sundown is a real seller.
I could not have been happier with my stay in LA.
Our stay at the Ramada by Wyndham Hollywood was for 5 nights and the service provided was exceptional. The staff go out of their way to make sure you feel like family. The room we had was considered a standard size room but it was a lot larger than others costing more we had stayed in on our trip accross the USA. The hotel is very well located to all the best attractions in the area. Overall a great experience and again we thank the staff in particular Matt and Theo.
Staff was great. Very courteous and willing to guide in the city. Security in the hotel. We felt save in the area. Unfortunately everyplace in Los Angeles has homeless walking around (even beverly hills) because they seem to be approved to travel via bus and metro free... So... Having a safe place to rest was great. Bed was great.. A/C worked... All good. I would stay again definitely. Close to a metro station and the Hollywood main attraction walk of fame
The staff was super friendly and professional and really did make us feel like guests, not customers. They were able to answer any questions about the city and or the hotel. And they let us leave out bags after checkout and retrieve them before we went to the airport. In the end this was cheaper and better located than our original plans and I would stay with them again in a heartbeat.
I always choose to stay at Hampton Inn for first night after long flight whenever I visit Los Angeles. It offers great value for money with its comfortable beds, cozy pillows, and cleanliness. The hotel's proximity to the airport is a major advantage, making it a convenient choice for travelers. I highly recommend this hotel for a comfortable and hassle-free stay near the airport.
The bus stop was right at the front door, so it was easy to get to downtown LA and to Hollywood, and much cheaper than rideshare or taxis. Despite being right on Sunset Blvd, it was relatively quiet. Breakfast was waffles, porridge, muffins, bagels, orange and apple juices, and coffee or tea. Cook it yourself and have as much as you want.
the beds are comfortable, every time I go to Los Angeles this is my place to stay , it’s close to the airport , downtown LA , I also love the girls at the front desk they have always been really nice to me , I also love that they always left 2 packages of makeup removal wipes , I always forget mine and they make sure I have them 👏
You would only stay here for universal and it’s a short walk away, so that’s good. I think the extra charges for parking are too much considering the hotel is not cheap. It was clean, that’s all we needed. The area around the hotel is not nice and I wouldn’t walk around there if I had kids with me.
I needed a cheap room close to the airport as a transit night before leaving the country - this hotel did the job pretty well. The room was a bit old and tired but the bed was good, the coffee machine worked and that was all that mattered! The 24-hour shuttle to the airport was a massive winner!
The actual hotel is just lovely however the condition of downtown Los Angeles is deplorable and I would never stay in the downtown core again. The level of filth and homelessness was just awful. Constant smell of urine and garbage everywhere.
This hotel has the best shower and hot tub system I have had given the fact that they have lower rates in downtown Los Angeles. Their pool and the rooftop bar are really really nice too! There are plenty of great restaurants around!
No wasted space in the rooms. Nice and quiet. Staff was super friendly. Everything is super clean. The hotel is also right in the middle of downtown, making it easy to walk around in the historic areas.
