Micanopy is a lovely town in north central Florida.
Micanopy is a lovely town in north central Florida. It is known as the town setting in the movie Doc Hollywood with Michael J. Fox. It is quiet, friendly, steeped in history: both Seminole wars, Florida's inland towns, and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and more. If you love a one-street town with a lot of history that only opens its stores Th-Sun, this is the kind of town you will visit and not want to leave. Bonus, it is close to some of the best Florida wine/sangria, gas station BBQ, and gator tail you've ever had.

Walk around to take in the shops and places to eat around town there. We enjoyed having the pizza from Blue Highway, all varieties are very tasty. We took it to go so we could have it with our delicious complimentary glass of wine back at the Herlong. We got to relax and enjoyed the quietness of the house and surroundings. Very nice recharge for us!

Trees draped with Spanish moss, cute antiques stores along a quaint downtown, great bicycling routes, and a quick drive to Gainesville for anyone in need of additional dining or entertainment options. Found it to be a relaxing stop and a nice contrast to the fun (but artificiality) of a Disney day.

Micanopy is a great hidden jewel off the beaten path of life.We have been going to this small eclectic town for 3 decades. Its seems to be slowly losing its appeal.A town like this can't survive on antiques and art alone, due to the cyclical nature of the economy.

One word "terrible!"
One word "terrible!"
The room was filthy, no phone, AC had an extension cord ran from the outside, TV didn't work and bed were terrible and dirty. Cockroaches everywhere we Informed management and they seemed unconcerned, so we gave them the keys and made arrangement at a better hotel down the road. A waste of time and money.👎😡
Also, was very disappointed in booking.com for failing to do their due diligence on the property. The photos posted were not even close to what it was.
I would not recommend this property to anyone.
