I have always liked Gunnison.
I have always liked Gunnison. It's great if you are an active outdoors person. Blue Mesa has amazing fishing. Good hunting nearby. Great mountain biking in and around Gunnison. Great little city in a beautiful setting. Could definintely spend more time there exploring, but it was just a stop on the way to our destination near Grand Junction. Ate at The Palisades (recommended by clerk) and food was good. Driving around, there seem to be many options for a variety of tastes (BBQ, Mexican, American, etc).

Gunnison is a nice little Colorado town, however, since it is a college town, we were surprised that all the coffee shops, (including Starbucks!) were all closed by 7 pm. We only stayed one night and for convenience sake we just ate a McDonalds. Gunnison is small so navigating the town was easy, especially with GPS. The area is very scenic for folks who love the mountains and if you love to ski, this would be a great place to stay with Crested Butte just a short drive away. Even though it was just a stop on the way home to California, I would probably stay in Gunnison again if the opportunity arose.JanetUnited States of America

Even though the hotel is on HWY 50, the hotel sits back from the road so it is very quiet. It is worth driving the few miles from the main part of Gunnison for the peace and quiet. We have stayed here before when we needed just 1 night. The breakfast is wonderful! Homemade jams, bowl of fresh blueberries, and high end teas are just some of the nice breakfast items. The beds are comfortable and the room was very quiet. We will stay here again when passing through Gunnison.
