Auburn is a great Sierra foothill community with a rich history and lots of great outdoor adventures (hiking, mountain biking, kayaking) nearby. There are plenty of great restaurants, galleries, live music venues and an old theater that routinely holds interesting events - such as the screening of a documentary "River Runner" while we were there. We ate at Crudo, a new asian/fusion restaurant and it was fabulous. Other guests ate at a wonderful Mexican restaurant near our inn. We walked from our hotel to the State Theater and drove down to the nearby confluence of the North Fork and South Fork of the American River for a wonderful picnic and some wading in the river.

Motels are too expensive.
Motels are too expensive.
Motels most won't work with you on anything.
Just say that's the way it is here, were an expensive place.
But it's not far enough in resort areas or national forest like lake Tahoe or with casinos like Reno to warrant such high prices, for average motel name brands.
Does have good public transportation.

Auburn is historical in California history quaint old town freeway close with lots of great eateries and shops. One caution most everything in Auburn is on a hillside so be prepared to exercise your legs. Locals greet you with smiles and accolades very comfortably safe feeling while walking about or dining outdoors.

Auburn has a very relevant place in California History due to the early gold/silver mining/ railroad, and other such endeavors in California. Auburn is also a great base for a lengthy stay in order to enjoy the activities that the area can offer.. (river rafting; scenic drives, bike rides; etc.)
+ bed and pillows are great
+ room has plenty of natural light and great view to the city
+ kitchen is full equipped (super modern appliances)
+ easy self check in
+ despite being near the road, house has a very good sound proof windows
keep in mind that this is not a hotel. this is more similar to a hostel with individual rooms and shared areas like kitchen and living room
It's an older motel but maintained and clean. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The air conditioner worked well. The free breakfast included self serve waffles, juice, Svenhard pastries, Yoplait yogurt, cereal, granola bars, coffee and tea. The staff were very nice. It's a very convenient location and inexpensive compared to others in Auburn.
Cleanliness. Pretty basic which was alright as we weren't there much. Bathroom great. No counterspace. Stuff kept falling in the sink. No blow dryer as most hotels have them now. Did not have room cleaned while there so did not interact with staff except check in. Rooms quiet except people talking outside by cars which was right by your room door.
We thought it was very good & LOVED the coffee. The hotel room was very clean & we really liked the location. The close restaurants are a great plus. And we forgot our toothpaste & really appreciated the free toothpaste. The size of the newer TV was great.
What a very nicely remodeled Victorian!! The kitchen was great. We loved the room; towels were plush, bed linens were nice and the mattress was very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening overlooking old town Auburn.
The room was clean, warm and tidy. I liked that it had a fridge and microwave. It was centrally located and easy to get on/off the freeway. Grocery store and good eats very close. The hotel desk clerk was great!!
rooms seem to be newly renovated, I’ve stayed in way worse for way more. Hotel owner was very nice, polite and let me park my expensive motorcycle in any spot I wanted.
Perfect location, downtown Auburn 5 mins away on foot. Ample parking, On site restaurant. Pool area nice. Room temperature comfortable, heating and cooling available.
Welcoming staff and atmosphere, clean and bright, great amenities, comfortable bed, breakfast included. Our new favorite hotel for visits to the Auburn area.
