We were there on two occasions, first for a family birthday party and second for a funeral. We didn't actually have time for any time to explore Alliance. We did have recommendations for some great places to have dinner.

Alliance as a town was very nice.
Alliance as a town was very nice. Nice downtown that they are working towards making it an art district. There is a castle and the Haines House Underground Railroad. Heggy's Confectionary was a great place to eat. No mall though and no book stores :(

I grew up in Alliance and used to go back to visit family who lived there regularly. The last of my family is gone and I hadn't been back for six years. Large parts of the town are extremely run down and there are many abandoned buildings. The mall is decimated. I did enjoy using the library and there are areas of the town that are more hopeful--including the hospital and university. I had things I wanted to do in Alliance, which I did, so I'm glad I went, but I ended up feeling sad. I don't know anyone would visit Alliance, save for having family there or having ties to the university.

Alliance was actually bigger than I had thought .
Alliance was actually bigger than I had thought . The main strip had a great selection of stores . And we found multiple playgrounds for the kids to play at. We also visited the mall and the arcade was a fun place for when it rained .
