Nice city, not too big but with some nice restaurants and bars to go to in the evening. It is a bit stretched out, so a car can be convenient. Close to Khao Yai national park, so a good place to organize your trips from.

Pak Chong is not too popular among foreign tourists.
Pak Chong is not too popular among foreign tourists. This is a vacation place mostly for Thai people around 3 hours from Bangkok.
Getting there is easy taking the minibus and cost around 160thb.
It is a nice place to enjoy a few days and it has a enormous waterpark/amusement park, exotic zoo, temples etc in a short driving distance.
I reccomend renting a scooter to get around since it is cheap and it fast, especcaly in the most trafficated hours.
Make sure to bring international driving lisence if renting a vehicle, or else you will be fined 500thb if stopped by the police. Helmet is also a must have for both driver and passenger, or else you will be fined for not wearing one also.
There is enough dining places around (a lot of hot-pot around), but the best is the streetfood rolling out at 9-10pm and lasts for the late hours (and also cheap).
I really reccomend Pak Chong for a few days and we will definately go back there the next time.

Night was good for food and many stall but the morning market better as shop open good stufs to buy. The hostel beside noodles shop was the best had ever eaten in Thailand. Fish ball noodle was fresh and delicious.. A stall wanton Noodles down the road was delicious too. The place was quite easy to excess by bus to korat, mini van to Bangkok returned for bus too except only not many can speak English.

Pak Chong is a very laid back town.
Pak Chong is a very laid back town. You can stay here if you are planning to go to the night market or visiting Khao Yai. I think the best time to go here is in November, December & January. Its not so hot and the flowers are blooming during that time.
Really glad that I stumbled upon this property, it was such a unique experience. It was like entering a completely different world and the location also offered refuge to Thailand’s heatwave at the time. I hesitated at first about it being a “vintage” hotel since it might mean outdated fixtures, dust and clutter but to my surprise the hotel was fairly clean and well maintained. We had the place to ourselves since it was Sun-Mon stay so we thoroughly enjoyed the place. The breakfast options are limited but still filling.
Excellent value! Note: it's a motel, not a resort - each bungalow has a parking space next to it and the property is 8km from Pak Chong village (night market), so only really suitable if you have private transport. I asked for a quiet room and got it. It also had the things I wanted most - a flat-screen TV, kettle and fridge. The breakfast was basic but buffet style (2 Thai veg dishes, poached eggs, Thai sausages (!), bread and butter plus toaster and filter coffee. If you have a car this is a fantastic deal!
the hostel is no frills, as the price reflects, but it is clean and everything you need including all the littlest water you can drink is provided. breakfast was ready at time that worked for me. the owner was amazing at putting together a Khoi Yai National park tour I will never forget! lots of animals, beautiful scenery, and great food throughout the day. his local knowledge added a whole other dimension to my stay that you just don’t find in bigger hotel properties/tours.
I like the location, ambiance, and comfort 😊. The room is very comfortable and the bathroom size was beyond our expectation for a hostel. The place is not too far from Pak Chong Railway Station. It is also near the night market. There is a walking distance (about 7 mins) 7-11 if you need some stuff. However, please be informed that the area is not actually pedestrian friendly because it is near the national road.
Great all round experience, lovely breakfast, restaurant in the hotel next door is amazing for other meals (you can ask them to remove meat if you are vegetarian). Option to use shower block for showers as well.
Eh was very responsive and helpful, booked us a taxi to and from Bangkok to get to the accommodation and also a guided tour of the Khao Yai national park. The tour was unforgettable!
Very comfortable glamping in our spacious tent. The bed is unexpectedly comfy. We had Thai barbecue at nights cause it’s the only thing we can get. It’s delicious and new experience of cooking. The host helped us book a tour to Khao Yai National Park.
Large working tub and a shower in a large bathroom with a really comfortable bed. Easy walking access to food. Humidity here was much lower than the other parts of Thailand I have been in making feel much cooler here. This was an unexpected bonus.
Wonderfully quirky hotel with eccentric ephemera, a relaxing pool and rope bridge to riverside restaurant. Nice Thai food, I'm vegetarian and managed to order a few dishes. Good location, 15 minute walk to town, rail station and night market.
The owner, Nice, is very kind, she helped us booking the tour at Khao Yai National Park and also the transport back to Bangkok. She provided easy and clear information for the self check-in.
It was a funky hotel with great facilities, a pool, slide, coffee shop, breakfast, nice jewellery shop and friendly staff, comfy beds, and unique decor. Definitely worth the money!
