Set in the quiet countryside of Eastern Iceland, these basic cottages are 7 minutes’ drive from the village of Vopnafjördur. It provides a kitchenette and free toiletries. We absolutely loved our stay here, it was real Icelandic countryside and the hosts were just so lovely.. we even got invited to the farm to see the animals! It was the best nights sleep on our whole Iceland trip, the kids slept until 10 am for the first time ever in their life! Such comfy beds and nice cottage. Really recommend this place for everyone and for families with younger kids it is awesome! Would love to come back one day!

On the banks of the Fossá River just 30 km from Egilsstadir, this hotel offers bright rooms and cottages. A homemade breakfast including jams, bread and lamb pâté is served each morning. Everything was great! The room was comfortable and had everything you needed. Everything is made with love and taste. Superbly equipped kitchen. If possible, I will definitely stop again.

Húsey Hostel & Horsefarm features accommodation 55 km from Egilsstadir. The hostel has family rooms. At the hostel the rooms include a shared bathroom with a shower. the house is in the middle of an amazing landscape. The place is very comfy with a nice space in the front of the house where you can chill and watch the landscape on a sofa with a cup of tea. The horse riding tour was the perfect way to enjoy the bay and watch the seals.
